Spumante Frizzante

Spumante Frizzante

For Spumante the wine is subjected to a second fermentation whereas for a Frizzante simply carbon dioxide is added to the wine. Frizzante is often cheaper, since in the Netherlands Spumante is subjected to an extra high alcohol tax of € 1.75 per bottle (0.75 l), which is similar to the tax applicable to Champagne and Cava. Frizzante is subjected to a tax of € 0.51 (excluding VAT). On average Prosecco has an alcohol percentage of 10 to11%.
